When the street was completed in 1871, it used be adjacent to the seashore. Later, because of the newly built warehouses at seaside, it was made a distance between the street and the seashore. Buildings at the beginning of the Showa era on either sides remain on the street, which is esplanade with atmosphere. Also, there is the building of Nippon Yusen Yokohama branch built in 1936 ,which has 16 columns queue up on this street.
